Teacher Professional Growth Fund

Through negotiations between Edmonton Catholic Teachers Local 54 and Edmonton Catholic School Division, a fund was established to support teacher-directed professional development.  The Edmonton Catholic School Division has committed to provide the necessary funding to sustain this annual fund.

The purpose of the fund is to offset the cost of professional development for teachers, which may include a conference, workshop, webinar, seminar or educational course (accredited or non-accredited).

Areas of learning may include, but are not limited to: inclusion, leadership, Indigenous learning and Catholicity.  PD activities need to support the professional, instructional part of your teaching assignment and be directly related to the TQS or LQS, and not your extracurricular activities.

To access funds, teachers must attend professional development which supports their individual professional growth plan (PGP). ECT Local 54 will receive the funds from the division and manage and administer the funds to teachers.

Important Things To Note:

  • Graduate-level accredited courses may be applied for.
  • Newman Theological College “Open Studies” courses may be applied for, as long as they are not part of the MRE bursary program offered through the division.
  • International Baccalaureate (IB) courses and conferences may be applied for as long as the course choice is voluntary by the teacher and the school has already met the minimum requirements set forth by the IB organization for each subject area. Please note if attending voluntarily, you will not be eligible for the 2 days in lieu provided by the division.

This fund is for the personal professional development of Edmonton Catholic Teachers Local 54 teachers who are governed by the collective agreement.
