Teachers’ Retirement Reception Committee

Responsibilities

Starting in January, we meet about once a month before the event is held in June. During that time we plan an event to celebrate the local’s retiring teachers and honour their service to the profession. We also assemble and print the Retirement Bio Book to highlight retirees.

The event starts with a traditional evening Mass that includes a music ministry, assigned readings, and offertory gifts. Afterwards there’s a cocktail and appetizer reception at the Hotel MacDonald. The evening includes a short formal program, toasts, gift presentation, live music, and socializing with other retirees and their guests, local executives, trustees, and the district superintendent.

We believe teaching is a noble profession that shapes our community and our world. That’s why we make a special point of honouring you when you retire. Members of the Teachers’ Retirement Reception Committee get to help plan an evening Mass and formal reception as a thank-you to retiring teachers for their service.
