Responsibilities
We meet every month to negotiate and monitor the collective agreement between local teachers and the Edmonton Catholic School Board. If you aren’t getting the benefits you’re entitled to, we help you make sure the terms of the agreement are met.
During the collective bargaining process, we’ll tell you about the nature of the agreement and ask if you’d like to see any changes. Then we’ll assemble a proposal for the school board and get general consensus before we present it. Once we have negotiated the agreement with the board, you (along with the rest of the local) can vote to accept or reject their offer.
Chair
Lori Arksey
Our committee advocates on your behalf to improve your salary, benefits, leaves, and working conditions. This advocacy process is guided by the collective bargaining principles laid out in Alberta’s laws about labour relations. We also have a sub-committee made up of teachers who sit at the bargaining table to negotiate our collective agreement.
Get Involved
After a collective agreement is finalized, the Council elects committee members to roles that match their teaching position. Want to take a more active role in improving your salary, benefits, leaves, and working conditions? Let us know you’re interested.
