Governance Committee

Responsibilities

We regularly review the constitution and administrative guidelines to make sure they’re as clear and understandable as possible. We also meet as needed to review any document changes that teachers ask us to make. If we decide these changes are needed, we pass them along to the local’s executive.

In cases where a document isn’t clear about a specific issue, we provide a ruling that accounts for both the document’s intent and the teacher’s best interests. Then we suggest changes so we won’t run into that particular problem again.

Chair

Susan André

The local’s activities are determined by its constitution and administrative guidelines. These documents grow and evolve over time to meet our teachers’ changing needs. Our job as a committee is to take care of the local’s governance activities by managing and making changes to the documents when teachers decide they’re necessary.
