Annual Representative Assembly Committee

Responsibilities

Each spring, we hold three meetings to prepare our representatives for their important role at the assembly. At the first meeting, we review the ATA handbook and look for ways to improve it. Secondly, we look over the ATA’s finances. At the third, we review the policy and any proposed changes, then tell the Provincial Executive Council whether or not we agree with those changes.

Finally, of course, we attend the assembly and do our part to help the ATA make policy recommendations to the government that will benefit you.

If you’d like more information about this year’s assembly, check out the local’s events calendar.

Every May long weekend, our local sends 25 representatives to the ATA’s Annual Representative Assembly. Over 400 teachers from across the province come to the assembly to debate policies and resolutions so the ATA can make recommendations to the government. By doing this, we can help govern our teachers’ association and set a positive direction for the future.
