Worth Knowing March 2024

WORTH KNOWING

Telephone Townhall and Draft Goals and Priorities from the Central Table Survey

This Wednesday, March 20, at 7 pm, the Central Table Bargaining Committee (CTBC) will hold a telephone town hall (TTH) for members to share the draft goals and priorities from the central table survey. Teachers whose contact information the Association has will receive a reminder call about the TTH on Tuesday afternoon, between 2:30 and 4:30 pm, to their home and cell phones. Then, on Wednesday evening, before the 7 pm start time, members will receive calls to participate.

At the TTH, members will receive a political overview from President Jason Schilling, information on the role of the CTBC from committee chair and Vice-President Peter MacKay, an update on where we are in the process from CTBC member and South East District Representative Heather McCaig and an overview of the draft Goals and Priorities (G&P) that have come from the survey. The G&P is in draft form because the CTBC needs to ensure that what we think we heard from members in the survey is what you told us.

We have attached the draft to this document to facilitate your active participation and allow members to see it before the TTH. We encourage you to review it and reflect on the information provided before Wednesday’s TTH. When you forward the Worth Knowing to your members, we ask that you do not include the attachment. The document is available here, but members must log in to access the draft G&P document behind the Association’s firewall.

The CTBC will also send a communication to the 3,000-plus members who indicated their interest in participating in focused conversations regarding the next round of bargaining. Additional questions will be asked to ensure CTBC creates the most representative groups from our teaching population as possible. The focused conversation discussions will be facilitated with a third party and will happen the week of April 15th. Those members who did not request to participate in the survey will be given another opportunity to do so at the TTH on Wednesday evening.
