There’s a lot going on this February! Besides the usual Valentine’s Day, Random Acts of Kindness Week, and Family Day (hooray for a long weekend!), we, as Edmonton teachers, start to look forward to Teachers’ Convention on March 2nd and 3rd. Be sure to check out the list of speakers presenting at Convention this year and register for your favourites at www.getca.com. It’ll be great to be in person again and I invite you to stop by our ECT Local booth just outside the display hall. Have a chat, pick up some swag, and enter to win our annual “Sub for a Day” contest. J
It’s also election time at the ATA and we hope you’ll get informed and go to the polls (on-line) to elect the teachers you believe will serve you best on Provincial Executive Council (PEC). You can “meet the candidates” by reading the January 31st issue of the ATA News. We even have a couple of our own Edmonton Catholic teachers in this year’s race. Remember that these individuals want to see positive change for our profession, so find out what they stand for, make sure you have an ATA on-line account, and cast your vote between March 13th and March 16th. Your school rep will soon be able to provide you with voting instructions. For now, enjoy this short month and keep up the amazing work you do day in and day out!
