On behalf of the Alberta Teacher’s Association Local 54, I would like to take this opportunity to welcome my teacher colleagues as we begin the 2022-2023 school year. It is my great privilege to send you this first message and to be able to serve as your President.
We have gone through so much over a past few years with the challenges of COVID, our most recent curriculum redesign, and our provincial contract negotiations to name a few.
As teachers we are a strong collective of professional educators. We have a powerful influence, both in our work within the classroom, and our public advocacy, to change students’ lives.
During the coming months, we have an opportunity to ensure that Public Education is a priority for the political parties in our next provincial election.
I would like to invite my teacher colleagues to attend a provincial rally planned for Edmonton on Saturday, October 22nd at the Legislative Assembly of Alberta. More information is to follow on this event, and I look forward to seeing you all there!
