Happy Easter and Spring to you all!
What a year March was! I hope that each of you had a restful and rejuvenating Spring Break despite the drop of the K-6 Draft Curriculum Draft that was full of unexpected nonsense (to say the least). As we move into the last portion of this school year, I want to let you know that the Local and the Association continue to be working in the best interests of teachers at every turn. Follow us on our Social Media platforms and check back to the website often to stay in touch. Engagement is key to a successful campaign of making our community and members of our province aware of what teachers do and why this matters. Engagement has to come from us, as the professionals who are experiencing this work each day. I implore you to be engaged, do not let the voice of our profession go unnoticed. I have include the handles and site below.
An incredibly important means for engagement will be surrounding the curriculum by accessing and filling out the Association’s feedback survey. Please visit www.teachers.ab.ca to find this survey and take some time to fill it out. In addition, please tune in regularly to updates from the Association and the Local for updates!
#RedforEdAB is up and running with our Local. Toques and masks are available to our EC Teachers at a low cost and are now on hand. Shipping them to you will be quick and easy! Check out our website for the links to purchase yours today!
If you are interested in or are seeking self directed Professional Development remember that the Teacher Professional Growth Fund is available to you! Visit out website under “How we help” to apply or to get more information. Do not miss out on this opportunity to support yourself in your own professional development!
I would like to take this opportunity to officially congratulate and welcome Greg Carabine as Vice President elect for the Provincial Association and our elected District Representatives Nancy Ball, Darrin Bauer and Carmen Glossop. These colleagues begin their work on July 1, 2021. A warm welcome to each of you!
To close this month’s message, I encourage each of you to continue to do this work of teaching in a way that serves your students and yourself in the best way. The scars of this work will surely last some time but, they too shall heal in time.
Wishing you all well as you take on the weeks ahead.
Peace to you,
Sandra
