May-19

Welcome to all of you to the month of May! The month that we recall and reflect upon our Mother Mary, one of the truest reflections of leadership, wisdom, undeniable love and sacrifice. May her guidance and strength be upon each of you as you navigate your work at this time of year.

May truly is a beautiful time of year, the weather is greeting us with warmth, and sun and the appearance of new growth – it is a delight to witness and be a part of this change! And, where the time is busy and sometimes messy with the final work that we will do with our students, we can always appreciate the awe as the school year comes to a close. Track and field events, closing performances, spring athletic teams, much anticipated field trips are just a few of the ways that we keep our students running along side of us to the finish line. Yes, marking, some planning for the coming school year and anticipation of change, at times, can bring some angst to our minds but, as it goes… this too shall pass.

It is also time to say Thank You again to all of our teachers who took such an amazing engagement in the political processes that came from the Local, the Province and the Association throughout the month of April. Your voice, as empowered Catholic teachers, was indeed heard. Now, it is time to keep that voice alive and well – advocacy is the next step. When opportunity allows it, fill up conversation with the good work of teachers and the positive affects of this on our communities. It is so important that we control the narrative of work that we do!

To close, we hope that you will join us on May 28th at our Annual General Meeting where we will put the ask out for new Committee Chairs. We are always looking for teachers to join a committee or take on a role as a chair. Please consider joining us and being a part of our team.

As always, thank you for all that you do for this beautiful profession, for your students and for our community. Teachers are a gift, this is something that should never be lost on anyone. Happy May everyone!
